Culture check

The way they dance. The paintings on their body make the celebration more interesting. With the initiates making it more fun, the focus the truthfulness

This has brought many people together for the longest time with the initiates having to be trained and taught their incoming responsibilities. They are taught to be able to shoulder incoming responsibilities. These ceremony serving as a right of passage to adulthood means more duties await, strength they are to have wisdom in demand. With their endurance making them ready to overcome every pain that awaits ahead of them.

The ceremony set to take place every two years sees more than 10,000 initiates being escorted to the chopping chamber as would term it. The luhya people especially the Bukusu hold onto this tradition to the heart.

The dancing, the mlongo song hitting different part of the brain the nerve activated the adrenaline increased. I love the way the initiates dance even though the pain ahead seem to be unbearable.

Due to the covid 19 pandemic some issues arose with the measures put in place to cub it seeming appearing like a hindrance to the people.

On 20th June 2020 the leaders said they would postpone the ceremony to 2022 but after a while seems culture in the heart can’t be forgotten.

The people made a step to ensure the ceremony could still take place but still observing the COVID-19 rules. Culture at the heart. This was love for something they hold onto, respect for the traditions. I respect diversity I love dancing. Who doesn’t?

Food for the soul

Words expressed from the heart. So real so rythmic so tempting. Seeing young artistic youths supporting life teaching life love not forgotten

A poem to the girlchild. A promise from a woman to her future girl. She promises to train her in a good way teach her the basics of life, the entities of life. A girl child well molded.

Just like this poet more to bring back the ethics of life. The forgotten morals of life. Reminding the society of the values that we to seem to be fading each day that passes by. If we ignore the generation is gone.

My eyes teary my eyebugs swollen
Heart shattered joy just a mirage
Just a pandemic as was termed
An alien inversion to many but
It’s a crisis it’s a dilemma it’s damage
African girl  danger looms

Our girls losing hope helpless
Deserted is what it feels like
With no way to get it all
Their dreams for just a glimpse
Desires misused taken advantage of
The potbelly not pity no fear
Wickedly taking her valuables
All her wealth known to few snatched
Africa girl   future cut off

See that Innocence did she deserve it
Inconsiderate society finishing her off
Emotionally breaking her physically torture
Her social rights denied her internal self done
They finished her off took advantage of her
Her lack of  it all is her cause of it all
Her desire for the basic basically her weakness
Misused she is misplaced her intentions
African girl hopes shattered

She just wanted the pad her flow intense
She is just a young women  cleanliness subdue
New clothes she yearned a big price she pays
He promises money but a disease shes added
The big belly her shame so heavy is her burden
The society worries not cares not
African girl  dream tortured

A poem for the pain of the girlchild. The increased rape tormenting our girls. The pandemic coming with all the negativity the rich taking advantage of the women. Many girl having to be young mothers. The weight the burden increased.

The poet is saddened by the situation. The increased target on the school going girls breaks hearts. How well are they protected?

Let’s dress up

Let us Glow the African way. Less stress in our land

Seen the Ankara dresses. African vintage made from the love of culture. A woman’s most important personality comes from her dressings. Human nature. Want to understand her a person’s thinking and lifestyle look at the dress. The type of dress or skirt explains more that is unsaid and unexplained.

For a long time a woman would wait for the international clothes in the stock market forgetting that the capabilities in the industries is magnificent. Most clothes imported from China.

The beauty representation of African love so enticing to the heart falling deeper in love.

The origination of the disease might have brought people back to the local market. With less clothes being imported the dependence on the local textile industries is amazing. Are you worried that the cloth you get cannot match what you would buy from the importation industry? Worry less because the amazing combinations would molify your heart from the shoes to the dress. Made of art made of culture simplicity improvised.

Confidence not forgotten even with the pandemic. African made in many forms. I am in love with African art.

See you same place same time next episode. We love your mind being placed so fear not to comment. Thank you for being part of us
